The powerpoint presentation covers a number of topics related to high price of medicines: * right to health as it is defined in the International Covenant * who pays for medicines and how expensive are they in Ukraine (in comparison with international practices) * basics of patents, innovative (original or brand) medicines and their generic copies * key issues from the TRIPS, the World Trade Organization's Agreement on intellectual property * example how higher protection of intellectual property rights are introduced in Ukraine and how it affects availability of cheaper medicines The presentation includes various sources, particularly from the UN Development Programme, Dutch researcher Ellen t'Hoen, also information gather through a number of experts including Olga Baula, Iryna Senyuta, Victoria Tymoshevska, and Boyan Konstantinov.
